Surf, Sun, Relax

Tutukaka Coast beaches are among the most spectacular in Northland, and New Zealand. The white sandy beaches include Matapouri Bay, Whale Bay and Whangaumu Bay. The inner harbour pebble beaches either side of Mākoha are Pacific Bay, Kowharewa Bay and Church Bay. There is also the famous surf beach, Sandy Bay. And that’s only to get you started!

Beaches

Just a stroll down the hill or a short drive along the coast, Mākoha is surrounded by secluded white sandy beaches. We highly recommend the easy hike down to Whale Bay and stopping in Matapouri Bay for an ice cream on the way home.

Surfing

Where there are waves, there’s surfers. Sandy Bay and Woolley’s Bay are only 20 minutes drive from Mākoha and both shape up some of Northland's most popular East Coast surfing beaches. Tutukaka Surf hire boards and offer lessons…

SUP Boarding
