Play

Stroll down the private access way… take a paddle in the kayaks, maybe an early morning workout on the SUP - or marvel at the Waka Ama fleet (dragonboats) slicing through the idyllic waters of Tutukaka Harbour. Safe swimming abounds for both the playful and the serious aquanaut.

Kayaking

Paddle at your own pace in one of the single kayaks or choose to test your rhythm with a buddy in the double kayak. The Tutukaka Harbour is wonderfully protected from most wind directions ensuring a calm and peaceful exploration. Keep an eye out for seabirds foraging amongst the oyster rocks and if you’re lucky, a small pod of dolphins that frequent the harbour entrance.

SUP Boarding

Early morning or late evenings provide magic lighting and perfect conditions to take out the inflatable stand up paddle board from Church Bay. Follow the rocky outcrops around the harbour and enjoy the quiet ambience. The easy sloping pebble beach makes entry and exit simple, even if it’s your first time. Perhaps just practicing your balance in the shallows will be enough!

Workout

There is gym equipment available including a treadmill, rowing & step machine to keep up a routine, or work off whatever is required. If racquet or club sports are of greater interest, Mākoha is a short drive away from a regional sports complex with tennis & badminton courts. There are golf courses and a yoga studio minutes away in Ngunguru Bay to satisfy most interests.
